#31) Looking Back -- 2021

Hello, and welcome to "Always Be Better" with Mel Windham. After a three-month break, I'm back and ready to put together 20 more videos this year.

You may notice a little bit of an upgrade from last time. I have a new microphone, and for the first time ever, I'm mastering the recording, so hopefully you can enjoy listening to my voice a little better. Also -- what about that new theme song? I'm showing off some new tricks I've learned over 2021. I hope you like the new improvements, and yes -- I know, it could always be better, but we're getting there.

So, I welcome you to join me, now, as we look back to 2021 -- the first year of this series -- 30 videos.

I've covered topics on logic, science, the mind, our autopilots, an introduction to the 7 Habits, religion, and even debt. I've shared a few of my favorite books, and a couple of times I just talked. And that was just the beginning.

For those of you seeing this for the first time, this series: "Always Be Better" is meant to be a journey. I share my experiences, teach important concepts, with the goal of always improving -- always becoming better people. We're learning to identify our issues, highlight what we're doing right, learning how to capitalize, and do better. Eventually we will be able to have more open discussions, help each other, and even touch on sensitive topics, working toward finding solutions.

So, I invite to check out my channel, subscribe, view the playlists I've prepared on specific topics. Watch all the videos and join us for more this year.

Be warned -- the first couple of videos may be quite rough. In one year, I've come from deer-in-the-headlights delivery to someone actually showing emotion. I've ventured into some bold experiments, sometimes with hilarious results.

I've also composed and arranged several pieces for these videos -- all of them original compositions except for an arrangement of one of my favorite Grieg pieces. Here are a few snippets. [Music plays]

And I'm excited about my new theme song. Let's hear some of it. [Music plays] Okay, I'll turn it down. I like it -- kind of upbeat -- kind of cheesy. And fun fact -- for this recording I even learned how to play the drums -- basic principles. So, how's it sound? Keep in mind it's my first attempt, and I'm likely to improve along the way. I'm definitely having a blast.

So -- 2022 -- what comes next? I'm excited about these 20 new videos where we can forward our discussions, but I'm also a little sad it's only 20. I still have a day job, and these videos take time to produce.

Coming up next: three more lessons on logic, and four lessons on the 7 Habits. I'm going to introduce politics and economics, as well as discuss the scientific method, belief systems, and more mind tricks. I'm planning to kick off my small business module, starting with a tour of Melkim Publishing, my own company. And yes -- I'm going to come back and continue my "15 Minutes of Fame" story.

We'll have fun -- I'll try to increase the humor and bring out more of myself so you can see what all my friends have to put up with every single day. And along the way we'll improve ourselves and learn things.

So, put on your seat belts, and get ready for a fun year. Thanks for watching. Make sure to Like and Subscribe, and I'll see you next time on "Always Be Better."
